Recording artist and Houston resident, Gwennesia Lillard aka Nessacary is a rapper, singer/songwriter, author and businesswoman. Nessacary recently reminded the music industry that she is here to stay with her “Best Female Artist” award win at the 2016 Go DJ Awards at NRG Stadium Houston, in front of an audience 3,000 music fans.
Nessacary’s new single and music video “Fiyah” displays her lyrical dexterity, and unbridled urban vernacular with finesse, yet with maximum energy. Nessacary, who was born in Cleveland, Ohio, began writing poetry and dancing in her early teenage years. She was brought up in a relatively strict household, and also faced bullying in school due to being born with Amniotic Band Syndrome, which can cause a number of defects at birth. Nessacary, however, never let her condition hold her back in any form and grew up happy and confident, in a loving home, with her two siblings and parents.
In pursuit of her ambitions, Nessacary joined a number of groups and even signed with IME Music Group, co-founded by Darryl “DMC” McDaniels from the legendary rap group RUN DMC. In 2008, Nessacary was featured for the first time at the Rebel Army Radio Awards winning “Best Female MC” and in 2010, went on to win a record six awards. The following year, Nessacary again, won the 2011 “Best Female Artist” and topped the Rebel Army Radio’s charts with the track “I Say” with rapper Bugatti Butch.
Now with her goals in clear focus, Nessacary and her current record label ER Entertainment are preparing to release “Welcome 2 Houston” in September 2016, featuring Hip Hop legends Paul Wall (Slab God) and Slim Thug (American King).
